The Cruise was amazing Icon of the Seas
A true love story... Once an upon a time in September 1971, 53 years ago... a young man named Alwyn said to his friend Joe, while pointing out to a girl he said "that is the girl I'm going to marry" and Joe jokingly said "take a number."
For Alwyn it was love at first sight! Eventually Alwyn was introduced to Irene and they became good friends. As months
went by, true love developed between them. In January 1972 Irene's Visa to Canada was approved which meant she had to emigrate to Canada within six months. Their love was so strong, that she decided to let her Canadian Visa expire. Her upset parents then connected with the Canadian Immigration Office to request an extension of the Canadian Visa which was granted to her for an additional six months.
In the meantime Alwyn had applied for a Canadian Visa which was declined. The Canadian officials suggested that Alwyn could emigrate to Canada if sponsored by his fiancee and on condition he marries her within 30 days of his arrival in Canada. So in February 1973 this young couple Alwyn and Irene got engaged. After their engagement it is when Irene emigrated to
Canada alone in April 1973.
Upon arrival in Canada Irene sponsored Alwyn as her fiancé. His Visa was granted and he arrived early December 1973 and had to get married within 30 days of his arrival.
Therefore 50 years ago on January 5, 1974 their sacred vows were made at St Anselm's Church in Toronto at 12.00 noon when they were officially married. This day is very special for Alwyn and Irene as they celebrate 50 years of marriage which is a GOLDEN milestone. Unfortunately neither of their families could attend their wedding in Toronto on that short notice, but a small wedding celebration did take place with the help of Irene's cousins.

and below we conclude .... With Faith, Hope and Love we are able to celebrate our Golden Anniversary! Not only does it mark half a century of love, it also commemorates the many memories, joys, and unforgettable moments shared on this marvellous journey of 50 years together in marriage.
We have been blessed and are very proud of our two children Michelle & Michael and in what they have achieved in their respective professions. Credit is also given to their spouses Anthony & Melinda.
Moreover our greatest blessings call us "Grandma" and "Grandpa"... Our 5 amazing grandchildren who we adore and love very much Thomas, Lauren, Aliya, Anthony and Ava Dear family and friends we thank each and every one of you for joining us today to celebrate this special occasion. We both look forward to many more years of love, happiness, laughter and our travel adventures together.

Diamond Jubilee
Currently two diamond anniversaries are celebrated – one at 60 and one at 75 years.
The 75th anniversary is the original diamond anniversary and the 60th was added when Queen Victoria (English Empire Monarch) celebrated her Diamond Jubilee on her 60th anniversary of accession to the throne in 1897.
